Behind the screens

Born in Stuttgart, Croatian roots, at home in Böblingen — married, two kids. The name of this site is not a typo, by the way: frruit stands for Franjo Rupčić + Information Technology.

Professionally, I've been connecting engineering with responsibility for 19 years. Privately I work the same way: when something interests me, I don't just want to use it — I want to understand and optimize it. That's why our home runs custom smart-home automation, why I experiment with local LLMs, and why this homepage has a CI pipeline.

I find balance primarily doing fitness, which I've been focusing on for quite some time — preferably in combination with visits to Croatia, where part of my heart lives. Indoors it's games with substance (no microtransaction treadmills), films and culture.

How I work

Three convictions run through everything: automation beats discipline — anything a human has to do manually twice should be done by a pipeline. People build systems — team culture isn't a side topic, it's the precondition for good software. And value over activity — technology is a means, not an end.
